Rethinking Plastic Waste in Renovation

Temporary protection materials safeguard surfaces but quickly become waste. Oceancircle repurposes them into reusable resources—reducing landfill, incineration, and emissions.

The Challenge and our Solution

From Single-Use to Circular – Giving Plastic Waste a New Purpose

The construction and renovation industries generate massive amounts of plastic waste from temporary protection materials. Despite their brief use, these materials contribute significantly to plastic pollution, with most ending up in incineration or landfills—causing high CO₂ emissions and resource loss.
Oceancircle changes this by collecting and processing used protection materials on-site. By reducing waste volume before transport, we minimize emissions and costs. The recovered polypropylene is cleaned, shredded, and repurposed into new raw materials—ensuring a fully circular process that turns plastic waste into valuable resources.

From Waste to Value:
Closing the Loop

Traditional waste disposal harms both the environment and your bottom line. Oceancircle rethinks waste management by transforming high-volume materials into valuable resources—reducing emissions and creating a truly circular economy.

Frequently Asked Questions

1

Is there a time saving or does it take longer than conventional disposal?

It takes the same time as conventional disposal. Actually, by segregating the carpet waste in BigBags it creates a cleaner and safer environment especially during the first days of a refit project.

2

What quantities of carpet and underlay can be processed this way?

Our waste management and carpet team consists of over 100 men & women with the capacity of removing up to 10.000 sqm of carpet and underlay per day. Our mobile on-site plant housed in an 40” container processes up to 3.000 sqm of carpet & underlay per shift.

3

Are CO2 certificates issued?

By the 3rd quarter of 2025 Oceancircle will start issuing CO2 certificates which our clients can use in their sustainability reports.

4

How sustainable is Oceancircle´s circular waste management?

With Carpet:re we reduce the carbon foot- print of end-of-life carpets by up to 90% compared to conventional carpet disposal through incineration. We help saving valuable resources the most ecological and economic way and thus contribute to the cruise industry`s common goal: achieving carbon neutral by 2050 the latest.

5

How can I incorporate Oceancircle into my brand marketing?

The positive environmental impact of Oceancircle`s programme is easily measurable and therefore easily incorporated as a marketing tool. We also offer the possibility of creating second life products to be reused on board creating a guest experience - visibly underlining the sustainable approach of your brand.

6

What second life products does Oceancircle produce from my carpet & textile waste?

With Carpet:re we reduce the carbon foot- print of end-of-life carpets by up to 90% compared to conventional carpet disposal through incineration. We help saving valuable resources the most ecological and economic way and thus contribute to the cruise industry`s common goal: achieving carbon neutral by 2050 the latest.
